A perfect solution for me!!!!

*Shamelessly stolen from www.wendyknits.com *
Last night I was chatting with my good friend www.knitspot.com and blabbling about "oh, I have to much yarn, it's ridiculous, I need to use it up, I WANT to use it up or at least make an attempt at it". This is a conversation Anne and I have had several times lately. Being the friend she is, she would respond by saying things like "yeah, I know" or " you actually USE the yarn you buy for the most part" or my personal favorite " I agree, you should go on a yarn diet.....hey, did you know that Fearless Fibers has a new colorway OR Briar Rose is having a sale or has more yarn posted" LOL....during those times, I can't tell you EXACTLY what occurs inside my brain but I can tell you that things go dark, I see sparkles and hear odd sounds and then, before I know it, I am hauling boxes in from the UPS guy *G*
Well, this is JUST what the doctor ordered!!! It isn't so restrictive that it makes it IMPOSSIBLE to follow yet the rules are pretty clear cut!!! I am actually excited about this. I also am the type of person that when I decide somehting, I have TREMENDOUS willpower to do it! I say we ALL should give it a whirl....c'mon gals and guys...let's make our spouses and significant others happy....(and shocked) and let's KNIT FROM OUR STASH!!!! This is gonna be fun!!!

Happy Knitting peeps!!

Hmmm, whose been naughty and whose been nice???

Ok folks, this is what has been occupying my time lately, plus a few other things that I can't post for obvious reasons (gifts for the 2 people who actually might READ my blog hahaha---hi hun, sorry about the boot to the head last night during your snoring lapse....whole 'nother post in its own haha) Anyways, the first scarf is the "Infamous" MultiDirectional Scarf. It came out lovely and soooo soft. The yarn is YUMMY!!! It is from Briar Rose Fibers http://www.briarrosefibers.net/ (hahaha that cracks me up that I can link like that LOL) Anyways, I HIGHLY recommend her yarn. I know I can tend to be overly picky with yarn BUT I was taught to be that way by the best www.knitspot.com . I mean, she's right, quality is non-replaceable....or something like that LOL. I have my set favorites ...but who doesn't ya know.(http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=32548 Is my other obsession. Anyways, the multidirectional is the Heritage. 100% wool and LOVELY. It is quickly becoming a personal favorite....although I have some EartSong and some Abundance sitting here starring at me LOL.

The next is the socks, I finished one and am moving onto the other foot, these are moving slow for some reason...hmmm, just a basic 2x2 ribbing 64 sts. The yarn is the Fortissima glitter. I like knitting with it alot for gifts, its fun. size 2 needles and the leg is about 5 1/2 inches for a size 8 1/2 foot....The circle Beauties are COASTERS!!!! I have been trying to think of things to make for people that I didn't want to invest a TON of time and more money on but still could give them something handmade to show I care and was thinking about them, plus a few stocking stuffers as well....anyways, I went surfing and found a pattern for these coatsers at www.knittingpatterncentral.com and they are soooooooooo cool!! The lighter color is the Himilayian recycled woo/silk blend. I only made one of those to start to make sure they felted well before I invested a boat load of time....I have some handspun in the washer right now..woot woot!! Those were LOTS of fun to make. I made some for my landlords and for a friend of my moms and a stocking stuffer for some others.....they are really cool. The darker red is Galway, it ALWAYS felts like a dream, no stitch definition left, just awsome, I love to felt with that stuff!

Then last but not least.....my personal favorite.....the first of the cabled mitts is done. I LOVE them. The pattern can be found at www.knitspot.com
I HIGHLY recommend it for anyone who likes mitts. It's a fun pattern and soooooooooo pretty in the end!!

Ok, well, that's it for now...happy knitting folks.

'Tis the season for gift knitting!!

Okie Dokie folks, here is ALOT of knitting pics and projects. The first little number is for Miss Monkey!!! She is sporting a partial number from the book for Babies from Plymouth. It is the lace long sleeve dress I have been working on for awhile. I just love this dress. So far, it is my favorite. The yarn is DK weight Christmas Red specialy dyed from Fearless Fibers!! The BEST!!! It is the 100% superwash merino. I really like it. I need to do the sleeves and attatch them and then seam it up the center, add the silk ribbon and viola!! It goes into her stocking for Christmas!!
This next gorgeous merino is the merino from MoreHouse, I love it. The cabled scarf is coming along nicely, the pattern is from The Vogue Book of Scarf's. I have a feeling, this will be a VERY loved gift ;)

This next lovely is a Christmas sock that is turning out great! I am using Fortissma and it is the one with the glitter (I forget the name) but It is just a plain 2x2 ribbing and is great. Plain and simple, that's what I'm talking about.

Ok, now the best for last. This is a fingerless mitt with a cable design in the center that is speciafically designed to fit snug...like a glove heehee.....This is of course an orginal design by the one and only Anne at www.knitspot.com (ohhh lookie, I did it, I linked hahaha). I am telling ya'll her patterns are the bomb. I truly feel that as far as lace knitting, there is no better. She has a catalog at the left of her site, I STRONGLY recommend clicking it and going through it. ALL of her knits would make LOVELY gifts and they are WONDERFUL to knit. I warn you though, once you use her patterns, you will be spoiled for all others. This yarn is Koigu black. I LOVE it!!! I can't WAIT till it's done. So, there ya have it!! I hope all is going well you and yours. Happy Knitting everyone and please, stop by www.knitspot.com you will be awe struck I promise.

Today is World Aids Day........

I shouldn't have to say anymore than this but as we all know...the United States has a neat and tidy way of sweeping things that are "messy" under the rug and forgetting about it...I'm sure if you look around and see how many people NOW are actually sporting American Flags like they were the first year after 9/11 it is under HALF now. Shameful if you ask me.

We're 25 or so years into the disease and we have no vaccine, no cure and for people who cannot afford it and have no insurance to speak of...there is no treatment for them. We need funding. We need resources to be available to EVERYONE rich, poor, black, white, gay, straight,IV drug users, non drug users, innocent babies born into it. We should not loose anymore people to this disease, this is an outrage and a disgrace. We should help other countries without question as well as our own. This is an excellent site to read and inform yourself. Become educated, help others to become educated and don't stop until there is no more evidence of this horrible disease. http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/dhap.htm

I don't know anyone personally who has been tormented with this terrible disease, I never want to know anyone either. I want to make sure that NOBODY is EVER inflicted and I know it is up to US to stop it!!! Show you care, you would if it were your family!

Continuation of photos!!

The Mantle...............and a few other odds and ends heehee and of course the stairs along with the crooked bow..due to children running up and down the stairs running their hands up and down it..poor thing doesn't stand a chance!! and now onto mitts, mitts and more mitts: Arean't these so cool?! They are made out of Lion and Lamb Lorna Laces and the colorway is called Vera, loooooooooooves them!!! The pink is out of Galway Victorian pink and Blue, with squiggle as an accent...yup, those are for a young girl! I am almost done with the gift mitts so hopefully I can concentrate on the rest...the only bad thing about the pink and blue is when I photographed it, my sister in law was wearing it and she stretched it out into a funny look, it looks kind of crooked but it isn't, she just was to big for it plus she didn't straighten it on her wrist but oh well, you get the idea!!! So there ya have it..photos and all...........There is more than one way to skin a blogger that won't post all the photos!!!
the

OMG an elf threw up!!!

Ok,ok, ok, I know, it's not THAT bad...but trust me, the decoration thingy at my house is ALMOST that bad. We have decorations EVERYWHERE and THAT is what has taken up alot of our time the past few days...other than a sick little Miss Monkey who is feeling better now.

We had my cousin's daughter over and she just adores Mikaela and of course, little Miss Monkey adores her. She kept her occupied while I caught my breath, and lemme tell you.....how sweet it is to have someone else play Hungry,Hungry Hippo . They were so cute. It's funny watching older kids who SWEAR they don't like BABY TOYS but then when the little ones pull out the games, all that FLIES out the window!!! This is the Tween that I made the shrug for for Christmas....shhhh, it's a secret. Don't worry, she doesn't read this heehee.

Anyways, I also gave King 1 the duty of untangling the lights *crackin' up* now trust me...it isn't as bad as it looks because we have this sick anal obsession on making sure they are placed neatly away when we are done. That happened after the first 2 or 3 years of our marriage when he got sick of TRULY untangling the lights but he posed for a fun picture anyways.

Isn't he cute LOL. Poor guy, he gets all the grunt work;) BUT, lookie at how purdy the end result is :

It looks a little bit like it got lost in the sea of toys but hey, that's what happens when you have kids and you ACTUALLY LIVE in your home!! (more on that later)

Ok, so there is the tree...it's a;; red, white and silver. I think it's pretty and Christmas happens to be one of my favorite of all times. I love to decorate until there isn't one more inch of house left, I love the cold weather, I love the early evenings, the cute Christmas shows, the comfort cooking, the heavy sweaters.....oh, and my dearest friend, bless her heart, she is probably worried I will resort to wearing my husbands sweatshirts again, she broke me of that last season LOL. She is a gem and if ya'll haven't been to her site, go please, she is amazing inside and out. I will try and figure out how to link her but I have no clue how and she is way to busy to read my blog so she can't help either :( She found it once but I think it was not because she was actually looking to read it LOL. Oh well, this is fun to do anyways, even if nobody reads it LOL.

Ok, now onto the decorating business again......I did the mantle AND the stairs but blogger won't post them...prick!! Oh well, of course dear hubby will be here to help me and then fix the mess I make heehee. Have no fear people, I will get the hang of it sooner or later. Oh, and you can bet I have also been knitting...more and more mitts. I am almost done too, I can't WAIT!!

Well all, until later, tata and remember, if it is stiff and prickly in your hands, it will be stiff and prickly on your needles ;) get your mind out of the gutter people!!!

Gobble,Gobble

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!! I LOVE the holidays and this time of year. I love the coziness, the comfort foods and getting together with my family and friends. I am so excited, I LOVE cooking for the holidays and Thanksgiving is one of my FAVORITES!! I will be starting the shindig beginnings this afternoon WOOT WOOT, then my house will smell heavenly all day and all night!!

I have also been pretty busy making the fingerless mitts for people...here are some of the ones that have occupied my time ::::the one on the right is for a man, my husband is showing it off for me. It is knitted out of 100% merino and is sooooooooooo soft. I LOVE it. The one on the right is out of the Wool of the Andes from KnitPicks and I added some cute fun fur. I like the Wool of the Andes but to be honest, I haven't worked as much with that as I have say Lorna Laces or Briar Rose. It will be hard to beat Briar Rose and when I don't have enough of my own handspun, then I usually turn to that first then if it doesn't suit the project, I go hunting elsewhere. These next two beauties are also gorgeous. The one on the right is out of the ever classic Noro Silk Garden with a little novelty yarn added for glitz and glam LOL. The recipient is a hugh school gal so ya know......the one on the right is soooooooooo soft, it's like butta I tell ya!! It is out of Cherry Tree Hill Possum!! I know, I am NOT a fan of Cherry Tree Hill, not for any particular reason mind you, it's just not my cup of tea but this possum of theirs OOOHHHLALA!!! I believe they no longer carry it and that's a shame, it is AWSOME and so soft! I actually have enough left to make myself a pair out of this and that is exactly what I am gonna do. The remainder goes into my covetted stash that I use for making things for myself. I only have like 3 hanks of yarn in it LOL 2 of which are handspun LOL.

Well, there ya have it. That's what's been occupying my time...well, that and taking care of my two gobblers LOL which blogger won't let me post a picture of UGH, Blogger drives me nuts!! Sometimes it will post, others nope, no dice!! Anyways...Happy Thanksgiving to all and thanks for reading !!

Ahhh, the day after!!!

Well, looks like we made it through another birthday!! None the worse for wear either. Miss Mikaela was not at all thrilled with the lights going out for her candle blowing, to say the least!! You can't see the candles in the photo but it is a chocolate cake with a number 3 and then 3 seperate candles with it.

Then the present parade started..ok, maybe not a present parade, just a few gifts. She isn't having a "party" this year. We do parties every other year and as it works out, when one ISN'T due for their party, the other IS!! This was her Cabbage Patch Color Changer doll. I picked it cuz her name is Mikaela (spelled different) and her birthday is close to our Mikaela's and I just thought it was neat. She really liked it and she LOVED her SpongeBob pillow from her brother. SpongeBob rocks LOL.
A good time was had by all!! Of course I think Daddy was having more fun than the kids LOL. The thingy on his face is a Barbie Radio and microphone that you can hook up and sing in...yeah, like he needs THAT LOL. I prefer the princess hat he is wearing but hey, what can I say. I think I need to get my husband a hobby...I'm just sayin'..................

It seems like just yesterday

.......That my sweet (ok, not ALL the time) little girl was born. I remember exactly what I was doing at this time when she was born, this very moment. I was "waiting" with my husband in the hospital while he was watching the sports catching up on Ohio State. I was so excited I couldn't stand it. Every time the nurse came in I would laugh and say "Well, I think she is gonna stay in there until she graduates"...but seriously, that last ultra-sound they did, I SWEAR I saw her diploma in her hand, she had NO intentions of leaving her little home!!LOL

Now here we are 3 yars later, she is so beautiful and full of life. I hope life has nothing but the best in store for her. I can see her personality already. She is spirited and dependent, no man will need to take care of HER, unless she WANTS them to. She has that same spark in her eyes as her brother, that one that says "Have no fear, I can handle it". She is also tender and sweet and inquisitive and curious all rolled into one. She is also her daddy's girl!
As you can see........But she is also mommy's little "Sismo-Pismo" LOL .

Happy Birthday Little Mikaela. Your so beautiful and you amaze me more and more every day. I hope you always have the very best that life has to offer you and I hope you never see the world with jaded eyes, I hope you always smile when your feeling silly and you giggle when your having fun. I hope you are just as close with Mason in 20 years as you are today just as I am with my brothers.

Happy Day baby girl!

Here I go 'round the fiber land, fiber land, fiber land!!!

Good grief I love knitting ..............spinning, ANYTHING fiber related. I just adore it, can't get enough of it. You get the idea!

This is what has been occupying my time:
The fingerless gloves are the latest craze around here, everyone has them, wears them or wants them and I just think these are so darn cute that I am making some more for myself!!
The scarf and gloves are made out of the infamous NORO. I am really diggin' the Silk Garden, no knots, very little veg matter in it, all around groovy. Let's face it, not to many yarns can give the same color display. You know what I mean, admit it! It's groovy!
Who can resist the multidirectional scarf and mitts made out of NORO as a STUNNING and yet ever so functional gift right?! I know the recipient of this little number will just love it.I know I put alot of effort into it and I know I am proud to give it ya know.

The cabled scarf is also a gift but I doubt that person ever reads this blog heehee. It is out of a yarn from Moorehouse Merino....YUMMY stuff I tell ya. A friend of mine went to the store and she knew I would love this so she got this and some purples and pinks for me. Such a great friend. I LOVE them. It knits like "Butta" and is as soft as...well....you know............. The cables aren't as BOLD and PROMINENT as I wanted them, but they are stunning none the less. The scarf pattern is from VOGUE KNITTING book of scarfs. It's very manly dontcha think?!

Mother Nature must have cramps..

How else should I explain the crappy weather she is dishing out to us. I sure wish she would make up her mind ya know!!!! Yesterday was blustery and cold, today started out with sunshine and then turned to cold gloom :(

After school, the kids were getting antsy, which usually happens this time of year. the weather is unreliable and not really in any good shape for them to go out and play. It's still incredibly muddy from the day before and geesh, all their favoirte dirt spots have turned to muck...what's a kid to do........well....lemme TELL ya what they are to do (with help from mom of course)

Remember these..............I used to love "forts". They were so fun and just PERFECT for a crappy ol' weather day!! Yup, they LOVE it!! They even have a password.....traitors, won't even share it with mom!!! Oh well....maybe I can get some knitters peace now LOL Doubt it!

ohhh la,la.....wash in style my friends!

**Click on photo's for a closer peek**
Every time I look at these, I love them more and more!

Ghosts , Ghouls and Gobblins too, plus DARTH VADER & COOKIE MONSTER?!

Hi Everyone!! Well, another Halloweenie and costume panic has come and gone...with only a few minor melt-downs...and I just told the King he can throw a tempter tantrum all he wants, he is only allowed to have one candy bar before dinner ;) it was a good weekend at the nut-house, the kiddies looked absolutely ADORABLE, cutest around I tell ya! We went for about an hour os so and they did great, no fits when we were done and they were very happy to relinquish the candies that are not appropriate for them, we "bought" them off of the kids so they can get something else to make up for it. I must say, my kids are FANTABULOUSO!

While I have done alot of knitting, it seems like since the costume trauma's, I don't have TONS of photos to show, just a few. I put the pedal to the metal and got both little Monkies...oops, I forgot...I have been told I must change the little one's "names" they can't be monkies, although elephants somehow doesn't sound right LOL. Well, hopefully, she'll forgive us for continuing with "monkey business" heehee....anyways, I knit up a lovely winter cap out of Mission Falls wool. I LOVE this stuff. It's affordable and considerably soft. It knits up beautiful and has such nice stitch definition. I really like it and HIGHLY recommend it for some kids items. Easy care and easy wear! I used half a skein each of different shades of purple. I ADORE doing cables and this fit right in. The pattern is from KPixie and I got it at Knitting Pattern Central. Try it! I also started his socks outta handspun, nothing better I tell ya, nothing better.

The face cloth is sporting the coolest pattern, it is knitted out of Rowan's Luxury Cotton. I love this too but it is a bit pricey, I am only using up my left-over or normally, I wouldn't be using it for a face cloth. Kind of like using Golden Nuggets for paper weights ya know. This is a cotton, silk, viscose blend, much like Classic Silk by Classic Elite. I think this shows the stitch pattern vividly. I really like doing face/dishcloths, I can try out alot of different patterns that way and have something to show for it!! I am having so much fun!! Well, since I haven't figured out this hole blogger thingy and mine sometimes is a PAIN in the butt, it won't upload these photos so I'll have to repost them above.....anyways, that's about all I have been up to, a wee bit of spinning is going on too....maybe I'll have some plied beauties at the end of this week...we'll seeeeeeeee...........knit on peeps and make is GORGEOUS!

Washy,Washy,Washy

My kitty just LOVES paper bags....lookie, he is helping me put away groceries LOL. That naughty cat!!
I forget what little ditty went to but now it's stuck in my head and THAT is a bad thing...now all my friends at my LYS and knitting class will have to endure me singing it to them! LOL I have been working on making wash cloths for gifts and am knitting like mad, hopefully I will have a bunch to photograph for you by the end of the week. I am having alot of fun knitting them. I may have to take a little break though to start on a basic shawl for my silly sister in law..ready for this...she is no bigger than a teeny peanut and she just broke her shoulder. I feel just awful for her and I hope my brother is being a big help to her or I may have to go and pull rank on him and give him a good yelling at LOL. She was riding her horse and she was trying to get up on her by a different way and she knew she probably shouldn't try it PLUS she knew she probably was gonna fall but did she stop..NOPE!! She fell on her shoulder and boom, all was ended then. She had surgery on Friday and is recovering. She is soooo lucky that's all it was. I feel so bad for her. I am really not completely clear on how she did it though, that was the best way I understood it. So, I am knitting her a little shawl to keep her shoulders warm cuz she ain't gettin' a coat on over that arm LOL.

Well, until later..ta-ta my friends and remember, life is to short to knit with cheap, crappy yarn!

Friday, October 20, 2006

I think I can, I think I can....

LOL I'm the little knitter that could LOL....Well, it's official.....I'm in full holiday knitting bloom PLUS I need to get my rear in gear for the craft show in November OY VEY...me thinkeths I bite offeth more than I can cheweth.

Here are the 2 things I couldn't get blogger to upload the other day..The shrug is being knit out of Cascade jewel in a really pretty winter wine color...kind of my latest color kick lately. The yarn is a chunky style yarn that is single ply, 100% wool. At first I really liked it, not sure if it was the colorway I liked or the entire yarn BUT after working with it, I am not such a huge fan. It started to fuzz up and pill. If it does this now before it is washed, it makes me wonder how it will hold up to wear and tear ya know....

This little beauty is another multidirectional scarf that is also a gift. It's out of Noro Silk Garden which is 50% wool and 50% silk. Stunning colors, only Noro can do it this way ya know....I should be done with it tonight. The shrug is pretty much done now, I just need to seam it and put it away. That makes 2 shrugs finished for gifts. I happen to love shrugs and they are HUGELY popular right now. Hopefully, I can get back to spinning sometime soon. I need to get some more sock yarn spun because I have a specific plan for that!! Besides, I just miss spinning. It relaxes me and helps me take out my frustrations ya know.....hmmm, wonder if that's why some of my yarn is WAY overspun LOL.

Well people, as always, life's to short to knit with cheap and crappy yarn....so until later........Knit On!!!!!!

If I had a dime for every project....

I HAD to cast on, I'd be a rich woman by now LOL. I can't help it, it's a sickness I tell ya. This time of the year makes it worse too. The holidays are coming and I have all these well meaning plans to knit my loved ones these beautiful gifts that I painstakingly picked out each pattern and each yarn for....Truth be told, not ALL the people on my list will be given a knitted item, there just isn't enough time to do it all. I am hoping by next year, I will be experienced and fast enough to be able to knit through-out the year to stock pile gifts!! Here are a few of the dandies I have been playing with right now... This is going to be the "Japanese
Feather Stole" when it's completed and it's a Christmas gift. It truly is gorgeous and I adore knitting it. I am not experienced with lace but this is simple enough with stunning results. It is being knitted out of hand dyed cashmere to a deep beautiful "eggplant" color. It's lace weight cashmere but is just thick enough that I can grab ahold and knit securely with it. I have issues with the REALLY thin lace weight stuff that I feel like I should be flossing my teeth with instead!
It is just stunning, I can't wait to finish it. Hopefully I'll have more to photograph on it at the end of the week. I am TRYING to post another photo of a multidirectional scarf I am making also for a gift but BLOGGER is being an ass! SO I am not obviously going to be able to post the multidirectional scarf or the shrug I am making so I will just have to tell you about it and post photos tomorrow or something. The scarf is being made out of.......ready......I'm warning you.....ok, here goes..............

Noro Silk Garden!!!
I know, I know, I HATE Noro, but I gotta say, it is (in my opinion only) the only yarn that REALLY looks good with this pattern. The colors and the space dying is exceptional and well, sometimes ya just gotta suck it up then.

The shrug is being knitter out of Cascade Jewel. I am ok with this yarn. It reminded me a bit of the Malabrigo for some reason and so I was in the "I have to get it mose" and we all know what I am like then... so anyways, after starting the shrug, with some minor handling, the yarn sturted to "fuzz". It now has a halo effect that is undersirable for me. I like the color of the yarn, which is what prompted me to buy it, BUT it is piling and fuzzing BEFORE it is even washed and worn...sad,sad,sad in my opinion. I can say I will not buy this again. I have some left over so I will see how it felts but for $11 a hank, felting ISN"T what I had in mind!!

Well folks, for thos who are going to Rhineback...........shop for me, and remember, a good sheep is a sheared one! Knit on my friends!

My very first KAL

I'm doing my first KAL for a RED SWEATER. I dunno much about them, but my very good friend Anne is hosting it with another gal. You have GOT to go to Anne's site at www.knitspot.com she has the BEST lace shawls and stoles that SHE designs. They are stunning and soooo elegant. I truly think everyone should buy at least one of her patterns once in their lives....lemme tell ya though, it's like a potato chip..you can't stop at just one!! She has felted purse patterns that will just AMAZE you and OMG her little girl dress is ADORABLE. I'm just sayin.................

Ok, not much has been happening here other than that. I am however, doing my first post without help!! How exciting is THAT, to bad nobody ever reads it haha Ok, now onto knitting stuff...

Here are just a couple things I have been finishing. Little Miss Monkey got her "pink" socks...she's ADDICTED to pink and Monkey boy got his big boy brown socks...even though they have been finished for a bit I staill hadn't photographed them. I am TOTALLY in love with wrist warmers these days and here is another pair I finished. They were gonna be a gift but hey, they are so dang cute dontcha think?! They are so quick and so satisfying and also a good ego booster when your feeling less than adequate with your knitting abilities!!

Well, I will keep you posted on the red sweater KAL and remember, if ya get a chance to go see Anne at www.knitspot.com, you won't regret it!

Cashmere + Baby= GAWGEOUS DAWLIN'

Ohhhh this sweater by Debbie Bliss gave me SUCH a fit. Remember the previous photos of it, well, I was RIGHT (I KNOW, shocking) the pattern WAS screwed. The fact that I am a fairly inexperienced pattern reader didn't help either BUT with help from my knitting mentor and very good friend Anne, it was all gravy baby!! I tore out the panels that were in the wrong spot, put them where they should be, added a trim in barn red and added ties and presto.....

I just LOVE this!!! I am even considering making my own version again for Little Miss Monkey!!! I used up the Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran yarn that I have been DYING to use up. Far be it from me to let yarn go to waste, ESPECIALLY any yarn with cashmere in it!! I hope my parents friend likes it. I am always nervous to give things I make to people for fear they won't like it or for fear they will think "Geesh, why couldn't you just BUY me something" ya know. Believe it or not, SOME people truly are like that. I also wonder when I gift to people who don't knit and stuff if they know just how much time really goes into things I make, also, by the time I get the yarn and buttons and supplies I need to make the item, add my time in and it actually costs more than if I would buy it!! Well, at least I can say so far, everyone I have made things for LOVE it.....and that makes me feel good.

Now onto other things I have been busy with. Here is a shrug I have made for Christmas for my cousins little girl....actually, this is a funny description...the technical term is she is my cousins daughter so it would make HER MY 2nd cousin...this is what WE call each other in the family....My Cousins wife who is my best friend AND GodParents who my kids call Aunt and Uncle LOL figure that one out LOL.....anyways, here is the shrug made out of Kareokee yarn, 100% soy silk and it is LUSCIOUS!!!

Isn't this ADORABLE. It just screams 15 year old. I really hope she likes it. Ya know how girls can be LOL.

I also have been slowly making some progress on some socks. I have a few more pairs that I can't post because they will be gifts also but I am afraid the person will see it. I think that person reads this blog but I am not sure how often....I will hopefully have alot more progress done on them through the weekend so I can post them on Monday and show you. I also will be starting a REALLY cool basketweave pattern socks for my very supportive and very patient King 1 for Christmas!! It is a really cool pattern and very masculine too. I think the yarn I have chosen will compliment the pattern really well. It is my own handspun. I just am afraid I will not have enough and having my foot being tied up, I won't be able to spin more of it...that's the only thing holding me back for this handspun....I also have a commercial sock yarn that of course is my all time favorite ..."Lorna Laces" in "Camo" colorway that would work well too. Oh, now that I am thinking of it, I also have Briar Rose's hand-dyed that is GORGEOUS yarn and GORGEOUS colors I could use....and I have enough of that too without worries! Hmmm, I have alot to think about on that this weekend, this will be the Cliffhanger until Monday LOL.

Until then my friends..................Knit on, life is to short to knit with crappy, cheap yarn!!!

Once upon a time...

in a far,far away land.....brothers and sisters of allllllllllllllllllll naughty ages got along BEAUTIFULLY!!!!!

awwwwwww look how cute that is..............which is ALOT better than what Monkey girl did right before the love fest.................she decided she wanted to hang out onher naughty bench....Notice the gorgeous spinning wheel in the background. Elsie misses me sooo much. This stupid foot is gonna be the death of me I tell ya. I am NOT looking forward to the 13th rolling back around when they are gonna slap that cast right back on my tootsies again!! I have alot of projects going right now. That's the beauty of knitting, you can have several going at once. I hope to get the sweater for my dad and mom's friend who is expecting her first baby , finished today. I am taking it to knitting class and seeing if my instructor can help me make heads or tails of the sleeves and such!

Well, as always my friends....knit on and do it with yummy yarn, after all, life's to short to knit with crap yarn!!!

it's Not ALWAYS a good idea.........

BUT sometimes I just see a pattern and I HAVE to knit it....much like the pleated flirty skirt that was on the web from Interweave knits. I HIGHLY recommend ANYONE who sees this and wants to knit it to RUN and run fast!! This was just a disaster on the way to happen. I should have known better when I realized that the pattern called for NO finishing either at the top OR the bottom. The top just has belt loops to use to hold it up. It is the most unflattering skirt I have ever seen and sold tacky. Then comes the bottom, there is not even 2 rows of seed stitch to keep the pleats laying nicely, I added THAT little detail. This skirt takes TWO people to help put it on cuz it falls down before you get the belt on it. I was VERY disappointed and what a total waste of time :( Here is the shameful project that will hold first place in the 2006 Hall of Shame Knits.

Ok, now onto the next little misfit...actually, the yarn is SCRUMPTIOUS. It is Debblie Bliss casherino Aran weight. The pattern is from her Simply Family book. You knit this sweater all in one piece then you just fold it somehow and seem it. Here is what I have, yes, it is almost done..my dilema??? How the HECK is it supposed to be sewn??? I will be seeking help on this one LOL.

Well, this last little cutey is not knitting related BUT it is my other passion, this is thank-you cards I am making with the Monkey set from Stampin' Up that I got from Melissa, thank you Melissa, I love my monkies!!! Isn't that just adorable!!! I LOVE it.
Well, I am off to wrangle my monkies, don't forget ya'll...October 14th is the Craft Show...be there or be....well, stuck at home doing nothing LOL :)
